Application for Permit
1. Employment Pass (EP)
2. Work Permit (WP)
    - Skilled Worker WP (Dip/Degree holder ..etc)
    - Un-skilled Worker WP (Education certificate not  required)

Job Agents
Job Agent charge $$. Most agent need deposit money eg. S$300-500 and they will send you to company for interview. If company like you, you will be employee and you have to pay according to agreement. Some low pay job are not require to go for interview.  Final payment is approx. S$1000 and above.
Note: Any deal with agent is you own risk. There are a lot of cases of cheating by agents.

1. Low level  - Work Permit  (Mostly, agent employ direct from source country.)

Many job agent are cheating job hunters. They charge one month pay  to S$4000.
Some job hunters apply student pass from private school (cost > s$300 per month) to get stay visa. Then - they look for job.
Few people apply and get entry for University Master course. After course, they got PR (permanence resident) and easy to get good job.
